Wenjun Han, Wenshuang Wang, Mei Zha, Kazuyuki Sugahara, and Fuchuan Li The Journal of Biological Chemistry 2014, 289(40): 27886-27898 ABSTRACT Background: Glycosaminoglycan (GAG) lyases have been widely isolated from terrestrial but not marine bacteria. Results: A novel GAG lyase (HCLase) was identified for the first time from a marine bacterium. Conclusion: The HCLase has very low homology to the characterized conventional GAG lyases and possesses very unique biochemical characteristics. Significance: HCLase will be useful for chondroitin sulfate/hyaluronan-related research and applications. |
