Research Interests

Chemotherapy has been widely used for cancer treatment, however, most anticancer drugs have serious toxicity and poor water solubility. Owning to its high biocompatibility, excellent water solubility, and biodegradability, polysaccharide dextran has been used as nanocarrier for drug delivery. My research focus on developing nanoparticles through coupling dextran with anticancer drugs such as paclitaxel, docetaxel and cabazitaxel. Dextran-based conjugates exhibit superior antitumor efficacy with decreased systemic side effects. Some of these conjugates are under preclinical investigation.Another interest is to study the biological functions of protein O-GlcNAcylation in cancer initiation, progression and treatment.
